WARREN (Erie News Now) – Warren County Commissioners have released a proposed 2022 budget with no tax increases or additional fees, according to a news release issued last week.

The budget is balanced and provides for the funding of all county services including human services, the sheriff’s department, courts and other offices.

Other budget highlights include:

  • Estimated revenues from real estate taxes are $9.4 million which is slightly down from 2020 as the result of tax appeals.
  • Delinquent tax payments are expected to go down slightly in 2022.
  • Health insurance costs remain flat.
  • The county is expecting a reduction in its ARC payment which subsidizes the pension but has budgeted a flat rate due to the continued volatility in the investment markets.
  • The county still awaits the final contract with its unions which will eventually impact the budget and changes will need to be made once that is passed.
  • There is an allocation of$15,000 of ACT 13 funds to be used for the creation of a land bank.

The public review period is now underway until the Board of Commissioners public meeting Wednesday, Dec. 22 at noon. That’s when they will discuss and vote whether to adopt the 2022 budget.

The complete draft is available for review in the commissioners office in the Warren County Courthouse.
