UPDATE @ 12:30 PM:

SHERMAN – The one-year-old who died in a Sherman house fire overnight has been identified.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office identified the baby as Watson Taylor.

Taylor, along with his mother and four siblings, were inside the 157 W. Main Street home on Wednesday around 1:30 a.m. when flames broke out.

His mom, deputies say, was able to exit the residence with her twin sons, age four. Her three other children, 12-year-old daughter, eight-year-old son and baby Wastson, were trapped in an upstairs bedroom.

The room was not accessible after fire engulfed a stairway. The 12-year-old and eight-year-old were able to jump from a second-story window and exit the residence. The one-year-old did not make it out.

The children who jumped from the window were taken to a regional medical center with burns. The mom and her two twins were not hurt.

At this point, deputies say the fire appears to have started following an electrical issue with the power feed to residence.

A GoFundMe fundraiser is now set up to help the family with immediate needs after losing their home.
