CELORON – Plans to implement Phase 2 of the Westside Sewer Extension Project has been approved by the South and Center Chautauqua Lake Sewer Districts’ Board of Directors.
During a March meeting, the Board unanimously approved the plan presented by GHD Consulting Services, Inc., with the maximum amount to be spent for this project is $24 million dollars.
The group initiated the construction of Phase 1 of the project in 2021 extending the districts to the Hamlet of Stow, estimated to be complete by 2023.
Phase 2 of the Extension, involves extending the Districts from the Hamlet of Stow to the North Chautauqua Lake Sewer District border, near Prendergast Creek.
Many of the systems are starting to fail due to wear and tear, and the age of the current system. Contributing to elevated levels of phosphorus in Chautauqua Lake and private water well contamination.
