JAMESTOWN, NY (WNY News Now) – While some drivers nationwide are starting to feel financial relief at the pump, the latest report from AAA found that the average price for a gallon of gas in New York remains higher than the national average.

AAA reported Monday that the national average price for a gallon of gas fell six cents from last week, decreasing to $3.90.

The current average cost in New York State is $4.25, which is down nine cents from last week.

In Chautauqua County, motorists are also paying around $4.25 a gallon to fill up. The cost is slightly higher in Cattaraugus County, clocking in at $4.28 a gallon.

AAA found that lower oil prices, combined with the end of the summer travel season, has led to lower gas prices overall.
