JAMESTOWN – Jamestown City Councilman Tony Dolce will be elected as the city’s next council president.

Chairman of the Jamestown Republican Committee and Ward 1 Councilman Brent Sheldon made the announcement Monday evening.

“Tony has by far the most experience of any Council person and has acted as acting Council President many times when the Council President was unable to be a t a meeting”, Sheldon stated.


The election will take place on January 1, 2020 at the first meeting of the new Council and the inauguration of mayor-elect Eddie Sundquist at Jamestown Community College’s Scharmann Theater.

“I am honored to be selected by the Republican caucus to serve as president,” Dolce told WNYNewsNow in a statement. “I look forward to working with this council, our new Mayor and his administration in continuing to move Jamestown forward.”

Dolce will then assign the newly elected council members to the four standing committees as well as the respective chairmen.











“The Republican majority looks forward to working with the new Mayor and council members together as we approach the City of Jamestown’s challenges for the next two years”, Sheldon added.

Dolce is the longest serving councilman in Jamestown history.
