Thousands Flock To Graceland To Remember Elvis On His 84th Birthday

MEMPHIS – In what has become an annual tradition, thousands of fans are flocking to Graceland to honor and remember Elvis Presley on what would have been his 84th birthday.

Presley rose to the heights of popular culture, going from living in a shotgun shack in Tupelo, Miss., to living in his mansion, Graceland, in Memphis, TN.

Presley died at 42, on Aug. 16, 1977.





During his meteoric career, and even after his death, Presley set records for album sales, gold records and concert attendance.

He is credited with more than 1 Billion record sales in his career and since his death. He had 149 Top 100 songs, with 114 charting in the top 40, and 18 hitting number one.

Presley remained relevant with his song Blue Christmas charting 40th this December.





















Presley remains the top selling artist of all time and was named the Entertainer of the Century.
