Gillibrand Said To Be Running For President

CNN

WASHINGTON – With 2020 just around the corner, the list of possible presidential candidates is growing. Now Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand is expected to toss her hat into the ring.

Multiple sources said Gillibrand is said to be forming an exploratory committee and is set to visit Iowa, the nation’s first caucus sight, this weekend.

According to the Associated Press Gillibrand, would become the fifth Democrat — and second senator — to participate in the Democrat primaries, joining Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, former Obama Cabinet member Julian Castro and Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii. Pundits expect Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey and Sen. Kamala Harris of California to also enter the race.

Former President Obama has called for “new blood” in the Democratic Party for candidates at the highest level, seemingly leaving Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders at the tail end of what could be a crowded field.
