
MAYVILLE – The Chautauqua County Department of Health and Human Services have issued a Code Blue Warning due to frigid wind chills and bitter cold temperatures this week.
County officials said during normal business hours (8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) Monday through Friday, people seeking emergency shelter should report to the Department of Health and Human Services offices in Dunkirk or Jamestown where emergency shelter will be arranged.
After normal business hours and on weekends and/or holidays, those seeking emergency shelter or those who know of someone who is in need of shelter can contact the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office by dialing 911 and shelter assistance will be provided.
Health Department Officals said assistance will also be provided by any local law enforcement agency in Chautauqua County.
The warning is issued when temperatures reach 32 degrees or lower and requires shelter access to anyone in need of assistance.
