Jamestown Police Officer Suspended Without Pay Following Arrest

JAMESTOWN – A City of Jamestown Police Officer was suspended without pay after he was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument, a D Felony.

Jamestown Police Chief Harry Snellings confirmed to WNYNewsNow Wednesday morning that Officer Kenneth V. Nellis III, 40, is still employed with the department but suspended without pay.

Nellis was arrested on Schuyler Street Monday night. He was arraigned Tuesday in Jamestown City Court with bail set a $2,000.

A city court clerk said an order of protection was issued during Nellis’ court appearance and the case is now being transferred to another jurisdiction.

Nellis has been a Jamestown Police Officer for the past four years.

WNYNewsNow was unaware Nellis III was an officer when we originally ran our report.
