MAYVILLE – Chautauqua County Executive George Borrello is one step closer to being the Republican nominee for the 57th State Senate District.

Borrello confirmed to WNYNewsNow that he has received every Republican Committee endorsement in the district, after meeting with committee members throughout the district last week.

Borrello stepped into the race after Sen. Cathy Young retired from the Senate to take a position outside of government. Borrello received the Chautauqua County Republican Party endorsement. He was also endorsed by the Chautauqua County Conservative Party.

“This is not about me personally and having the title of Senator; this is about ensuring that we have good representation,” Borrello said after receiving the endorsement.

The 57th District consists of Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Allegany Counties and seven towns in Livingston County.

Last week, Democrat committees from Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Allegany and Livingston Counties threw their support behind 22-year-old political newcomer  Austin T. Morgan, of Freedom.
