Two Charged Following Overdose Deaths

AMITY – New York State Police have charged two people in connection with two overdose deaths within a week of each other in Allegany County.

Jessica Sprague, 31, and George Brown, 36, both of Cuba, NY are charged with criminally negligent homicide and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

State Police said that a man, identified as Mark Crainer, 37, called in an overdose death of a 24-year-old on March 7, 2019.











Crainer and Srague were charged with false written statement and tampering with evidence, and after an investigation.

Sprague was arrested for allegedly supplying the heroin that caused the death of the 24-year-old.

Troopers also report that the Wellsville Police Department handled an overdose death of a 30-year-old on February 28th.









State Police and Wellsville Officers were able to identify similarities with the narcotics used in both overdose deaths.

George Brown, after further investigation, was revealed to be the one allegedly involved in supplying the heroin in the overdose investigations and was arrested.

Both have been arraigned on charges in the case.
