Buffalo Sabres Fire Head Coach Phil Housley

BUFFALO – Buffalo Sabres General Manager Jason Botterill announced early Sunday afternoon that Sabres Head Coach Phil Housley has been fired after two years as the Sabres Head Coach.

The Sabres finished with a 33-39-10 record for 76 points. In his two seasons, Housley tallied a record of 58 wins, 84 losses and 22 overtime losses.

Housley, a fan favorite when he played for the Sabres, was a first-round, sixth overall, pick in 1982 by the Sabres. He played in Buffalo from 1982 to 1990. He scored 178 goals and 380 assists for 558 points.
