WILLIAMSVILLE – A Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputy credited with saving a choking infant last year was honored by the American Red Cross Thursday.

Deputy Adam McAdoo was awarded the ‘Law Enforcement Real Hero Award’ by the American Red Cross during their Western New York Real Heroes Breakfast.

McAdoo was recognized for saving the life of an eight-month-old girl in Mayville last November.

The off-duty deputy was eating at the Mayville Diner and heard a mother calling that her baby wasn’t breathing.

McAdoo rushed to the child’s aid. The deputy delivered back blows which dislodged food stuck in the child’s throat and she quickly began to breathe again.
