Cool And Dry Today; Potential For Stronger Storms Thursday

JAMESTOWN – The rest of this afternoon will be cool and dry. A nice warmup will begin tomorrow, but a chance of thunderstorms, potentially severe will arrive by Thursday afternoon.

If you are looking to get some outdoor activities in, today will be the day. It will be a nice sunny day, although temperatures will be cooler in the upper 50’s. Tonight will continue to be dry with temperatures dropping back into the low 40’s.

The warmup begins tomorrow! It will be mainly dry with temperatures in the low 70’s. A slight chance of an afternoon rain shower is possible. A few rain showers and thunderstorms for the overnight hours with low temperatures in the upper 50’s to low 60’s.

Things will be a bit dicey as we head into Thursday. The morning will begin off dry but as the afternoon progresses a low pressure system will approach the region brining showers, thunderstorms, and more humid conditions.

The Storm Prediction Center has included all of Western New York under a slight risk (level 2/5) for severe weather Thursday afternoon and evening. Some storms could be strong to severe with heavy rain, gusty winds, and some large hail. While the tornado risk is low, a tornado is still possible but not expected.

Keep in mind a thunderstorm is defined as severe when it is producing winds of 58mph or greater and hail one inch in diameter or larger.

As of now the holiday weekend looks to be a bit wet, temperatures will remain warm in the mid 70’s!
