JAMESTOWN – Multimedia Journalist Matt Hummel has been awarded for his stellar work as a journalist with WNYNewsNow.
Hummel has been awarded the first ever ‘Nose of A Newshound’ award in recognition of his contributions to local news, and specifically for his coverage of court and police issues.

“I am absolutely humbled to receive the ‘Nose of the Newshound’ award,” Hummel said. “At times, I’ll admit, I felt a bit discouraged during the Waggoner trial. However, because of the amazing colleagues, who are dear friends, I was able to push through. I couldn’t have accomplished this feat without the supporting crew at WNYNewsNow.”
Hummel has advanced his working relationship with law enforcement and court personnel over the last year or so and has been instrumental in reporting stories in those fields.
He has fostered a dedication to getting accurate details and sifting through the often confusing world of law.
“Matt means more to this news department then he realizes,” said News Director Justin Gould. “This award is a long time coming; Matt’s abilities as a journalist have grown exponentially over the past years and this award highlights our appreciate and value of his work.”
