SILVER CREEK – A 45-year-old man was rescued by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Marine Division Monday morning after a kayak was overturned on Lake Erie in the Silver Creek area, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office was able to locate the unidentified man before returning him to shore uninjured via a Sheriff’s vessel. The man reportedly had all of his required safety equipment including wearing a personal flotation device at the time of the incident which assisted in the safe and quick rescue.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office is reminding boaters the importance of having the required safety equipment aboard  vessels and to have a safe boating season.
