ELLERY – A traffic stop for an alleged violation lead to charges against five local people Friday on the Bemus Ellery Road.

Chautauqua Coounty Sheriff’s Deputies said driving-related and drug-related charges were placed.

Wendy K. Merrill, 43, Jamestown, was charged with third-degree unlicensed operation.

Passenger Barbara Blakey, 52, of Kennedy, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Samantha Myers, 24, of Kennedy, was charged with second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia.

Ricky Myers, 20, of Kennedy,  was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

A fourth passenger, Shawn Hardy, 43, of Jamestown,  was found to have a warrant out of the City of Jamestown and was later turned over to the Jamestown Police Department.

Deputies said upon further investigation, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit assisted by a New York State Trooper K-9 unit, located a quantity of methamphetamine, marijuana, Adderall pills, and various other drug paraphernalia. All occupants were issued appearance tickets and will appear in the Town of Ellery Court at a later date.
