Heavy Rain Floods Area Roadways

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY – Heavy rain early Thursday morning has flooded a number of roadways, parking lots and basements in the area.

Chautauqua County Fire Dispatch told WNYNewsNow several roads are closed due to flash flooding. In Ellicott, North Work Street near Ross Mills Road was one of many locations impacted.

Flooding also occurred on Route 60 near the New York State Police Barracks near Jamestown, Fluvanna Avenue near the Jamestown City Line, Jones and Gifford Avenue, Mall Boulevard, the Chautauqua Mall Parking Lot, and Route 394 (West Fairmount Avenue) in Lakewood.


The National Weather Service said 1.16 inches of rain fell at the Jamestown Airport between 7 and 8 a.m. Thursday morning.
