CASSADAGA – A popular roadway along Cassadaga’s lower lake will soon accommodate bicyclists and pedestrians.

The Chautauqua County Department of Public Facilities announced Friday the ‘Dale Drive Shoulder Expansion Project’ is set to start June 24.

County officials said the project will add a five-foot asphalt paved shoulder to the existing roadway.

“Once completed, Dale Drive will be able to safely accommodate pedestrian and bicycle utilization,” said Chautauqua County Director of Public Facilities Brad Bentley. “Chautauqua County would like to recognize the Chautauqua County Health Network for their financial support to this project that helps further the Creating Healthy Schools and Communities goals via activities which support pedestrian and bicycle use.”

During construction officials do not expect the road to be closed to thru traffic. However, temporary lane closures are expected.

The roadway is set to be opened to two-way traffic during non-working hours.
