LAKE ERIE – The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Navigation Team rescued two sail boaters on Lake Erie Friday after their mast broke causing the craft to become disabled.

The Chautauqua County Water Emergency Team along with Westfield Fire Department crews were dispatched shortly before 1 p.m. Friday.

Deputies were able to pull the craft into the Barcelona Harbor.


The two on board were evaluated by the Westfield Fire Department and released.

Deputies said the Westfield Police Department and the Chautauqua County Emergency Services also assisted in the rescue.
