JAMESTOWN – Jamestown Community Baseball, LLC and the Secrets of Champions Foundation announced Monday the team has hired a new general manager .
Frank Fanning, a longtime catcher in the Premier Baseball League of Ontario, has worked in the front office of various professional baseball franchises.
In 2017 Fanning was the Front Office Manager for an affiliate of the Oakland A’s in Vermont and was later promoted to Team Operations in 2018. Just this year Fanning assisted with sales for the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in St. Mary’s, Canada.
Fanning’s father, Jim Fanning, served as a Major League player and manager, and was the General Manager of the Montreal Expos while Jamestown was a minor league affiliate.
Team officials said Fanning brings experience and enthusiasm to the team.
“I am extremely excited to be a part of the return of baseball to Jamestown,” Fanning said. “It is a beautiful city and a baseball city through and through.”
“Everyone I have spoken with have been welcoming, and I keep running out of air talking baseball with the people I meet at coffee shops, restaurants, and local offices,” said Fanning. “I feel that there is a love of the game here, and in this gap year, baseball is greatly missed.”
