Schumer Leads Passage Of New Fentanyl Sanctions Bill

WASHINGTON – New York State Senator Chuck Schumer announced the first-ever targeted Fentanyl sanctions bill has passed the Senate.

The bi-partisan Fentanyl Sanctions Act aims to push China’s government to honor its commitment to enforce new laws declaring all Fentanyl derivatives illegal.

The legislation would also provide U.S. officials with more resources to sanction traffickers.

Schumer said deadly Fentanyl floods into the United States and causes thousands of overdose deaths; many of which occur in Upstate New York.
