Update: BPU electric crews restored power to the Village of Falconer at 1:40 p.m. Thursday.

Crews said an excavator struck an underground electric cable around 11:50 a.m. Thursday, north of the 86 interchange outside Falconer.

Power went out in the village, including pumps at the Cassadaga Pump Station.

BPU personnel isolated the cable, re-routing power to restore electricity.

The Cassadaga water pumps have restarted, stirring the water.  The result is expected discolored water systemwide for the next 12-14 hours.  BPU water customers are asked not do laundry until their water appears to be clear.

FALCONER – Crews and engineers are currently working to troubleshoot the cause of Thursday morning’s power outage in Falconer.

The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities said it appears that an excavator may have struck an underground electric line north of the I-86 interchange.

No estimate of repair time is available.
