BEMUS POINT – A video of a possible tornado in Bemus Point was shared to our news partner WIVB News 4 in Buffalo Friday afternoon.

The video, taken by Megan Karalus, seems to depict a very ominous lowering near Chautauqua Lake around 2:30 p.m.

Officials with the National Weather Service in Buffalo told WNYNewsNow that the video is not showing a tornado rather, scud clouds that are being drawn into the storm.

Doppler radar also did not indicate any storm rotation during this time.

As of the time of publication, there have been no reports of damage from around Chautauqua County.

  1. My concern is this was a solid siting!!!.My friend was able to see the same funnel from 86 heading in from Jamestown toward Bemus. How does today’s so called technology miss this? The sky color and what the wildlife is doing is much more reliable. SORRY METEOROLOGISTS 😢
