LITTLE VALLEY – Officials in Cattaraugus County are asking for the public’s help in documenting damage from this past weekend’s flash flooding.

Chris Baker, Cattaraugus County Director of Emergency Services, told WNYNewsNow currently the damage is not eligible for FEMA funding, although, photos and information is needed to keep track of damage.

“Once we see what the numbers are, usually our elected officials, Assemblyman Giglio’s Office and those, we will be talking with them to see if there is anything out there for those people,” said Baker. “Unfortunately, it will have to go through their insurance company or out of pocket to take care of a lot of things right now.”

Baker wants the public to take pictures before, during and after clean up; document all items that were damaged; save written quotes, estimates, or receipts for repairs and to contact their insurance company or the property owner.

Photos and information should be sent to emergency.services@cattco.org, fax (716) 938-9170, or by calling (716) 938-9119. Information such as a person’s full name, home address (location of the damaged property), and contact information is needed.
