NEW YORK CITY – New York State Senator Chuck Schumer is calling for airlines to stock life-saving medicines, like Epi-Pens.

Joining him Sunday was a New York physician who recently saved the life of a passenger experiencing a serious food allergy attack aboard a Delta flight.

“I don’t know what I would have done had the EPI not worked and I don’t know who else would have had the courage to cut into a young man’s throat,” Dr. Mikhail Varshavski said.

“The airlines should carry EPI pens and we are asking the FAA to immediately remove the exemption so that these pens. these lifesaving EPI pens., can be on every airplane,” Schumer said.

Schumer said the Epi-Pens could be a part of the standard emergency medical kits already on each U.S. flight.
