JAMESTOWN – The rinse and repeat weather continues for the afternoon with isolated showers and thunderstorms across the Southern Tier. A more widespread thunderstorm chance returns on Tuesday with a limited threat for some gusty winds.

Through the afternoon today, partly to mostly sunny skies will be overhead through the majority of the day. Much like the last several days, a Lake Erie breeze is is helping to create a boundary across the area. That boundary could create some localized instability inland away from the lake and fire up a few isolated showers and storms. Highs will range 78 to 84 with sticky humidity.

NOAA Storm Prediction Center has outlined the entire region under a low-end Marginal Risk (level 1/5) for severe thunderstorms on Tuesday.

As a strong Cold front approaches, showers and thunderstorms will develop tomorrow afternoon along and ahead of the front from west to east. These storms could produce brief gusty winds, heavy rain and small hail. The main timing window for the strongest activity will be between noon and 5 p.m.

High pressure returns to the area Thursday with dry weather lasting through the weekend with much more comfortable humidity.
