BALTIMORE – The organizers of the Woodstock 50 festival have thrown in the towel and canceled the event.

Co-founder Michael Lang said in a statement; “unforeseen setbacks made it impossible to put on the festival we imagined.”

It was scheduled to take place August 16 through August 18, on the 50th Anniversary of the original Woodstock festival in 1969.

But the firm financing it pulled out in April and organizers had difficulties securing a site for the event.

Lang, who was one of the original Woodstock creators, recently announced the show would take place in Maryland. But, Jay-Z and John Fogerty pulled out just a few days ago.
