Bemus Point Man Charged In Newland Avenue Assault


JAMESTOWN – A Bemus Point man was charged after he allegedly choked a female to the point of her having difficulty breathing during a domestic dispute at 631 Newland Ave. Apt.1 Tuesday morning, according to the Jamestown Police Department. 

Police said, upon arrival, they discovered the female extremely upset and crying outside of the apartment. Joshua S. Danielson, 38, allegedly punched the female in the face and held an open flame from a lighter to the back of her head.

In addition, Danielson allegedly hit the woman in the leg the previous day with a machete causing bruising and a welt. Police said Danielson was arrested a short distance from the scene after he allegedly attempted to flee the apartment from a back window.


Dainelson was charged with second-degree assault and criminal obstruction of breathing and blood circulation. He was taken to Jamestown City Jail without incident.
