SALAMANCA – A former Salamanca school teacher was named in a lawsuit against the district filled under the Child Victim Act.

The lawsuit alleges Michael Dupont touched a student on a regular basis during the 2002-2003 school year.

According to the New York State Sex Offender Registry, Dupont is a level three sex offender and served 28 months to 7 years in state prison for deviate sexual intercourse, sexual contact and disseminating indecent materials to a minor after he was convicted in April 2009.

The suit claims Dupont worked to determine whether students came from either broken or single-parent homes while working in the district’s in-school suspension program.

He surrendered his teaching license after an arrest in 2008.
