MAYVILLE – An inmate in the Chautauqua County Jail is facing additional charges after he allegedly collected contraband while on a recent work detail.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office says that during an August 26 work detail Gary Warren III, 27, was allegedly spotted picking up hidden chewing tobacco and cigars for consumption during the detail.

Warren is charged with second-degree promoting prison contraband. Deputies said he will be arraigned at the county jail part of its centralized arraignment system.

The Work Detail Program allows previously approved or sentenced inmates to provide work services throughout the county.
