STOCKTON – A Bemus Point woman died following a single-vehicle crash Thursday morning on Route 38o, according to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said Stacey A. Grimes, 46, was the only person in the vehicle. Grimes was reportedly deceased upon arrival of emergency crews.

Investigation revealed that Grimes’ vehicle was traveling north on Route 380 when it failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. At tha time, the vehicle reportedly went off of the left side of the roadway and struck a tree.

The roadway was closed for approximately two-and-a-half hours while the scene was being investigated. The road is now open to traffic.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Stockton Volunteer Fire Department, Chautauqua County Coroner’s Office, Chautauqua County DPF and the Chautauqua County Fire Police.
