DEWITTVILLE – Two City of Jamestown residents are facing charges after the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office said they attempted to steal several hemp plants from a business in Dewittville Saturday.

Deputies were dispatched to a trespass complaint just after 1:40 a.m.

The two suspects, David A. Brown, 43, and Mackenzie M. Kepler, 18, were both still on scene when deputies arrived.

Both Brown and Kepler are accused of entering the property and attempted to steal a quantity of hemp plants being grown there.

Deputies report a few of the plants were damaged during the incident.

The duo is charged with second-degree criminal mischief, fourth-degree grand larceny and third-degree criminal trespass.

They were taken to the Chautauqua County Jail for arraignment and will answer the charges in Town of Chautauqua Court on a later date.
