MAYVILLE – The murder trial for Mayville man Rance “Randy” Freeman, Jr., 31, has been adjourned for a second time.
A court clerk told WNYNewsNow Friday morning that a new trial date hasn’t been scheduled. In addition, a reason for the adjournment wasn’t disclosed.
Freeman is charged with two counts of second-degree murder in connection with the Nov. 2008 death of Westfield man Jeffrey Johnson. Chautauqua County District Attorney Patrick Swanson previously told WNYNewsNow that Freeman is charged with two counts of second-degree murder because the allegation is that the killing was intentional and that it occurred during a felony.
Freeman remains in Chautauqua County Jail on $500,000 cash bail.
The charges carry a potential sentence ranging from fifteen years to life up to twenty-five years to life imprisonment.
