Jamestown Man Arrested After Police Allegedly Find Loaded, Stolen Guns

JAMESTOWN – A City of Jamestown man is facing several charges after Jamestown Police say they recovered two loaded stolen handguns during a traffic stop Wednesday morning.

Officers say Daniel D. Sansom, 24, was stopped in the area of Willard and Barrows Streets just before 11: 45 a.m.

Police said Sansom was found to have an outstanding warrant for failing to appear on a prior charge.

Following a search of his vehicle, police said they found the weapons inside of a drawstring backpack he was wearing.

Officers believe the guns were stolen from a home on Arlington Street in Jamestown on Tuesday.

Additionally, police said Sanson was allegedly in possession of stolen credit cards, a small quantity of crystal methamphetamine and prescription medications.

Sanson is charged with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and five counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

Additional charges are expected in the case.
