WESTFIELD – The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office is looking into a SWATting prank that was called in over the weekend.

Deputies say on Saturday several law enforcement agencies responded to a report of an armed subject who had been involved in a shooting incident on Pigeon Road in the Town of Westfield.

While en-route to the scene, deputies learned that the suspect was not there, but rather, was located at a different address in Westfield.

Deputies responded to that location and made contact with the suspect who allegedly had the weapon.

Investigation revealed that there was no shooting incident and the suspect was unarmed.

Further investigation showed that the call may have been a “SWATting” prank.

No one was injured during the incident and no charges have been filed.

Deputies said the investigation into the false report is on-going.
