COLDSPRING – The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office says a truck that crashed into the median of I-86 Tuesday was carrying 37,000 pounds of frozen salmon that delayed the vehicle’s removal.
Deputies say the crash happened in the westbound lane just after 6 a.m. between the Coldspring and Randolph exits.
The driver reportedly lost control on the snow-covered roadway which caused the tractor trailer to roll over, partially blocking the road.
The highway was closed for several hours as crews worked to remove the rig. Deputies say removing the salmon was quite the task and slowed down the process.
A passenger in the truck was taken to Olean General Hospital for a minor injury. The driver was not hurt.
