Man Charged After Allegedly Breaking Into Apartments, Businesses This Month

DUNKIKR – A City of Dunkirk man is facing several charges following multiple break-ins this month.

Dunkirk Police say Justin Baez, 29, allegedly broke into an apartment building on Central Avenue and vandalized a coin-operated dryer in an attempt to steal coins on Wednesday.

Baez reportedly fled the scene when officers arrived. Following a short foot chase, he was taken into custody.

The man is also facing charges stemming from two alleged burglaries earlier this month.

Police allege on January 5, Baez broke into Fieldbrook Foods and stolen an employee’s belongings and vandalized a contractor trailer.

Baez was also charged in connection with a similar break-in at Ehrheart’s Collision the day before, allegedly stealing cash from the business.

Police say he was released under New York’s new bail reform law after appearing in Dunkirk City Court.
