Duo Charged After Deputies Allegedly Find Meth, Marijuana During Stop

MAYVILLE – Two men are facing charges after the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office says they found meth and marijuana during a traffic stop early Thursday morning.

Deputies say Christopher McNett, 31, of Brocton, and Leroy Stepp, Jr., 28, of Westfield, were pulled over for an alleged traffic violation on Lakeview Avenue in Mayville just before 5 a.m.

McNett, the driver of the vehicle, allegedly provided deputies with a false name and date of birth. Through investigation deputies were able to identify the man who had his driving privileges revoked due to DWI conviction.











Both were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.

McNett was additionally charged with false personation, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operator, operate motor vehicle without interlock and unregistered motor vehicle. Stepp was also charged with second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana.

The duo were processed and released with appearance tickets.
