PORTLAND – The driver of a tractor trailer that crashed into a guardrail on Route 5 in the Town of Portland late Wednesday night was uninjured.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office says they responded to the scene around 11:30 p.m.

Deputies say the tractor trailer was traveling west bound when it left the north side of the roadway and struck a guard rail and telephone pole.

The guardrail, pole and big rig sustained substantial damage in crash.

The Portland Fire Department and Chautauqua County HAZMAT Team assisted at the scene after crews found diesel fuel leaking from the truck.
