JAMESTOWN – A fire at 718 Cherry St. early Friday morning remains under investigation, according to Jamestown Fire Chief Matthew Coon.
Coon says crews responded to the two-family family residence, where he says crews discovered a “heavy fire” showing from the rear of the structure. He adds that the fire progressed through the second floor into the roof.
No people were in the residence and no injuries were reported, according to Coon. The Chief tells WNYNewsNow that one resident lived in the downstairs apartment, and the upstairs portion is vacant.
Coon says an emergency demolition wasn’t scheduled by the Jamestown Department of Development. He says the structure doesn’t presently show a danger of falling.
Alstar ambulance, Jamestown Police, Jamestown BPU and National Fuel assisted at the scene.
