ALBANY — County Health Departments must be prepared to conduct simultaneous tests for COVID-19 and the Flu, as directed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
Cuomo ordered the State Health Department to issue a letter to county health departments to plan and prepare to do both tests as Flu season approaches.
“As we enter now into an influenza season during an unprecedented pandemic, Governor Cuomo has directed my Department to ensure local communities have adequate testing capacity for both seasonal influenza and COVID-19 so that we can make sure limited testing, lab, and treatment resources are being utilized most effectively,” Howard Zucker wrote in the letter.
The state is also calling for a “robust influenza vaccination plan.”
