WASHINGTON – Congressman Tom Reed is reacting to Tuesday night’s debate between President Donald Trump (R) and former Vice President Joe Biden (D).

Reed’s comments came as he co-hosted a live Zoom conference Wednesday morning to discuss the importance of bipartisanship in Congress, especially as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.

Reed says he watched the debate. The Corning Republican explains that the debate wasn’t in the best interest of the country as a whole.

“I join with the silent majority of America. I think (there’s) a growing voice awakening that’s saying, ‘You know what, that’s not the political debate that we need to have in America, nor should we have in America,'” Reed said. “The kind of debate we need to have is the one that we are leading in the Problem Solvers Caucus (bipartisan group in House)…”

New Jersey Democrat Josh Gottheimer, a Co-Chair of the Problem Solvers Caucus with Reed, says that the debate was “a disservice to the country.”
