Western New York’s COVID-19 Infection Rate Rises Above Three Percent

WESTERN NEW YORK – New York State’s Governor is once again raising the ‘caution flag’ as the Western New York region’s COVID-19 infection rate rises.

Governor Andrew Cuomo says while the state’s infection rate is low compared to the rest of the nation, numbers in our region are ticking up.

He says on Tuesday the infection rate was 3.4 percent, marking the second consecutive day the region has seen a positive rate above three percent.


The state’s overall infection rate is around 1.5 percent.

On Wednesday, both Chautauqua and Cattaraugus County reported new cases of the virus.

In Chautauqua County, 14 new cases were reported, with 141 active.



Meanwhile, Cattaraugus County reported nine new cases, with 111 active.
