MAYVILLE – Chautauqua County’s Sheriff is giving an update about the COVID-19 outbreak at the county jail.
Sheriff Jim Quattrone says out of 126 inmates tested; an additional 27 confirmed cases of the virus were identified.
Additionally, he says 33 staff were tested and results indicate three are positive for COVID-19.
Last week 26 inmates and a corrections officer tested positive for the virus after an inmate began to show symptoms.
The facility was locked down and those who tested positive are quarantined.
The Sheriff’s Office continues to work with New York State’s Commission of Corrections and the Chautauqua County Health Department to combat the outbreak.
