MAYVILLE – The Chautauqua County Health Department has announced additional water distribution times for those impacted by the “do not drink” water order.

Additional distribution will take place on Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Town of Chautauqua DPW Garage on Patterson Street.

Another pick-up event will take place on Monday from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Tops Market on Erie Street in Mayville.

Local leaders say the company has donated bottled water for Village residents.

The Chautauqua County Health Department is asking Village of Mayville water customers to not drink their water after Perfluorononanoic Acid was detected in the pipes.

The Health Department says the advisory was made of an abundance of caution after sample results received late Wednesday for the Village of Mayville’s three water wells indicated the presence of the chemical.

Officials say water can still be used for showering, bathing, cleaning and washing dishes, however, boiling water will not remove the chemicals.
