Two New COVID-19 Deaths, 293 Cases Recorded Over Holiday Weekend

MAYVILLE – Two new COVID-19 related deaths and 293 new cases of the virus were recorded over the Christmas holiday weekend in Chautauqua County.


The Chautauqua County Health Department, in an update to its online COVID-19 dashboard, says the deaths involved two residents in their 70s; the 28th and 29th reported.

There are now 399 active cases countywide, down from 415 last Thursday.

Of the new cases, 75 were reported in the Jamestown area with 113 active.



There are now 35 people hospitalized with COVID-19, up from 31.

The seven-day average percent positivity rate increased to 8.7 percent, up from 6.6 last week.

Since the pandemic began there have been 3,415 cases in the county with 2,987 recovering.
