JAMESTOWN – In an effort to maximize access to COVID-19 vaccines Tops Friendly Markets are partnering with federal health leaders to provide vaccinations to their customers.
The distribution efforts will get underway during phase two of vaccine rollout at Tops Friendly Markets pharmacies, like the one on Washington Street in Jamestown.
It is still not clear when phase two distribution will begin, or the vaccine will be widely available.
In the meantime, pharmacists and pharmacy interns are working to get trained and certified through the American Pharmacists Association to give COVID-19 immunizations.
“Tops Friendly Markets pharmacies are proud to be among one of the first sites receiving the COVID-19 vaccine as part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) partnerships,” said Matthew Hamed, director of Pharmacy for Tops. “As members of Topco, a network of independent retailers, we are able to offer the same opportunities for our customers as the larger chains. This partnership with HHS will allow our pharmacies to provide access to those who may not otherwise have access to the vaccine.”
The partnership with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is part of a large distribution effort in all 50 states and U.S. territories.
