LEON – Two people were taken to the hospital following an amish buggy crash in Cattaraugus County on Sunday.

The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened at 2 p.m. on Cherry Creek Hill Road at West Road in the Town of Leon.

Deputies say a vehicle collided with the buggy in the intersection.

Both occupants of the car were taken via ambulance to UPMC Chautauqua Hospital in Jamestown.

The buggy’s sole occupant, deputies say, was unharmed in the crash.

It is unclear if the horse hauling the carriage was injured.

The South Dayton and Leon Fire Departments also responded to the scene.

  1. At first, I thought it was two Amish buggies colliding. Couldn’t figure out how. Then thought maybe bad turn signals or failure to stop. Then read the buggy operator was uninjured, must have been wearing his seatbelt.
