JAMESTOWN – A new pet store has opened in Downtown Jamestown.

Co-Owner of Pearl City Pets and More, Jason Skinner, tells WNY News Now he and his wife opened for business earlier this year after their restaurant, Skinner’s Kitchen, closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Skinner says he is still a passionate chef, however retooled his focus after noticing Jamestown was lacking a pet store within city limits.

“We have a lot of people that walk in here, we have a lot of people that ride their bikes here, being central right in Downtown Jamestown it is easy for anybody right in this area to get to us,” said Skinner. “We have a Sulcata African Spurred Tortoise named Shelly and an Argentine Black and White Tegu named Mushu that freely walk the store to show people how the pets we sell could be if you interact with them correctly.”

As a family owned business, Skinner says he is able to offer animals at a more affordable price than other “big box” stores in the area. He and his wife also work to provide a personal touch to each order.

In addition to a variety of reptiles, birds, fish and pet supplies, the shop also sells convenience items.
